A small toothpick holder filled with small blooms and fall leaves splash color at each place setting!
When Thanksgiving is a small gathering, be bold with a miniature arrangement for each guest! I used cut glass toothpick holders filled with small blossoms of red miniature carnations, yellow daisy pom-poms, boxwood greenery and fall leaves.
I began by filing each holder with water treated with floral preservative. Take a small branch of boxwood greenery and remove the leaves that will be below the water line. This branch will help stabilize the flower blooms. In this arrangement I began with yellow daisy blooms. Cut a small tight bud of daisy pom-pom about 2.5 times the height of the toothpick holder. Place this bloom in the center of the container. Place a bud of red miniature carnation to the left and shorter than the daisy pom-pom. Place a larger yellow daisy bloom shorter than the red bud to the right of the red carnation bud. Place a large bloom of yellow daisy pom-pom to the left and resting on the edge of the toothpick holder. Place a large bloom of the red miniature carnation to the right front side of the toothpick holder. Place other red miniature carnation blooms to the back of the toothpick holder behind the yellow daisy pom-pom. Complete the arrangement by placing fall leaves within the blooms, only a few will be needed.
These small arrangements can be made the day before they are needed. It is best to store them in a cool area (about 40-50 degrees). Do not put them in a refrigerator with fresh fruits or vegetables. When ready, place an arrangement by each place setting.
