Cleaning the blooms of the Easter Lily allows them to last longer !!
The Easter Lily heralds the Holiday with beauty and fragrance! The aroma of the Easter Lily just brings Spring indoors. Make the enjoyment last longer by cleaning the pollen from the lily blooms as they begin to open.
You Will Need:
Easter Lily Plant Plastic Lined Basket Bow 6” Wood Pick Floral Wrap Tape
Chose an Easter Lily plant. Select a plastic lined basket to fit the pot. Allow about ½” to 1” gap around the pot. Place the plant in to the basket. Attach the bow to the 6” wooden pick and secure the bow with the floral wrap tape. Place the bow in the soil of the pot at the center of the plant. Allow the bow to hang over the basket rim. Carefully add water to the soil of the plant. Do not allow the water to puddle in the basket.
Cleaning the blooms of the Easter Lily will allow the blooms to last longer. This is accomplished by removing the pollen from the stamen of the bloom. Try to remove the pollen as soon as you see the stamen on a bloom just beginning to open. The pollen will stain more if allowed to remain on the stamen. When the bloom first pops open, the pollen is almost colorless and moist. It is easiest to remove the pollen at this stage. As the bloom matures, the pollen dries, turns yellow, and turns to powder. This powder stains. Remove the pollen early.
