A cornucopia filled with fresh flowers, fruits, and wheat decorate the buffet table for Thanksgiving!!!
The Holidays are the favorite time to decorate with fresh flowers and fruits. Although this looks gorgeous, it can shorten the life of the fresh flowers. Fruits and produce create Ethylene gas, this curtails the life of fresh cut flowers. There are ways to create a beautiful arrangement with both ingredients.
First, never refrigerate flowers and fruits or produce in the same unit. Cold temperatures slow down the production of ethylene gas, it does not eliminate them. Second, do not let the fruit come into contact with the water source of the arrangement. This arrangement was created using wire and wooden picks on the fruit, then inserting the wooden picks in the floral foam.

Fresh Cut Fall Flowers Pieces of Fruit Wheat Stems Plastic Plant Saucer Floral Wet Foam Floral Waterproof Tape Wooden Picks #22 Florist Wire Spanish Moss
Cornucopias are very tricky to use in arrangements. To create the illusions of spilling out of the horn, there has to be balance to prevent the arrangement from falling over! Prepare the cornucopia by cutting a piece of floral foam to fit the plastic plant saucer that fits the bottom of the opening to the cornucopia. The floral foam could rise about 3-4” above the top of the saucer. Totally saturate the floral foam and secure to the saucer with the waterproof floral tape. Place the saucer in the bottom of the cornucopia and secure to the cornucopia with waterproof floral tape.
I then prepared the fruit. Place a wooden wired pick to the end of stem of grapes. Wrap the wire tightly around the wood pick. Set aside. Take a piece of #22 florist wire and insert through the center of the fruit. Pull the ends of the wire to one side of the fruit and tighten the ends close to the side of the fruit. Place a wooden pick against the ends of the wire and the end of the wooden pick close to the edge of the fruit. In this arrangement, I used an apple and an orange. Set aside.
I place Spanish Moss around the saucer and spill out onto the table. I use this as a bed for the grapes to rest in to protect against bruising. Place the wooden pick wired to the grapes in the floral foam, resting on the edge of the plant saucer. I then place a heavy stem of flowers, in this arrangement a rose, at the back of the floral foam leaning toward the back of the cornucopia. This will balance the arrangement. This arrangement fills one side with the cornucopia and one side with the arrangement. I added height with the flowers. Others may choose to make the arrangement even with the top of the cornucopia and extend out longer with the flowers. After completing the arrangement, add the pieces of fruit by inserting the wood pick into the floral foam. Complete the arrangement by accenting with pieces of wheat. Enjoy!!

Place personalized place cards in small arrangements on the Thanksgiving Table!
Small vases for each setting is filled with assorted flowers and Fall decorations. Place enclosure card with guest’s name at their place setting

I fixed these small Place Setting Arrangements using shot glasses. Another option, for a vase, is a toothpick holder. To hold the enclosure card in the arrangement, I used pieces of wheat.
This place setting is a mixture of orange alstromeria and red miniature carnations. Because of the thickness of the wheat, I choose a fuller vase. Place the alstromeria close to the rim of the vase. Place stems of red miniature carnations at rising heights in the alstromeria. Place the end of two pieces of wheat in each vase. The piece of wheat at the back of the vase needs to be taller than the wheat in the front.
Add Fall leaves at the front of the vase, near the rim, and tall leaves at the back of the vase. Complete the setting by nesting the enclosure card, with the guest’s name, in the ends of the wheat.

Sippy cups have great graphics for kids. Remove the lids and fill with flowers that match the feeling of the cup. Mix and match on the party table.

These three cups caught my eye! Decorating for a Halloween Party can be very colorful. A child’s sippy cup is a great choice to add character to an arrangement. Because they are small, multiple arrangements can be used and are economical.
The Monster Cup is filled with orange altromeria blooms. Add green glittered ting-ting to balance the color of the container and add height to the arrangement.
The Día de Muertos Cup is arranged using the bright assorted colors of the celebration! Prepare the cup by placing a stick of wet foam in the opening of the cup. Because we are using a small amount of wet foam, keep the blossoms small. I used red miniature carnations, and stems of pom-poms. Select pom-poms that have long branches for the blooms. I only needed a few branches from a stem to get the color needed. I used the rest of the stems in other arrangements.
The Jack-O-Lantern container is a traditional fall arrangement! Prepare the container by filling with wet foam. I used red miniature carnations, orange alstromeria, yellow cushion and green button pom-poms. Add fall leaves to add definition.
Add a touch of flowers on your Halloween Party Table!!!
Fall flowers have such bright color palettes. Find unusual ways to add floral arrangements to your entertaining. The arrangements don’t have to be large to make an impression!
You Will Need: Halloween Eye Balls Halloween Picks Small Mixed Fall Blooms Fall Leaves #22 Wire Floral Wrap Tape Hot Glue Gun
This is a fun project, but tricky! I used a Dremel tool to cut a hole at the top of the eyeball. I also used a PVC coupling as a stand for the eyeball. For these eyeballs, I used a 1 ½” coupling.
Before you cut a hole, create feet for the eyeball with hot glue. Determine where you want the pupil to rest. Carefully, place dots of hot glue on the bottom of the eyeball to create stability. Quickly, immerse the eyeball in water to cool the hot glue. Use a marker to mark where to place the opening for the flowers.
Place the eyeball in the PVC coupling with the mark at the top. Carefully, create a hole, only about ½”. Remember, the rotary tool moves very fast.
To fix arrangement, I did a small grouping of blooms and secured them with floral wrap tape. Fill the eyeball with water. Cut the stems to fit in the eyeball. Remove the eyeball from the coupling. Place the arrangements on the table. You may need additional supports to keep the eyeballs from rolling. Some suggestions are matchsticks or small rolls. Use Fall Leaves or Spanish Moss on the table to camouflage these props. Enjoy!
